In today’s regulatory world, farmers and ranchers have the difficult task of proving the basic necessity in the face of environmental and economic concerns. We will dive into the supply/demand forces the industry must constantly monitor including emerging markets, ethanol, and the demads of environmentalists.

About Dow McVean

dow-mcveanDow McVean is the managing member of Dow McVean Capital Management, LLC, a commodity trading advisor registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”). He is also a principal of McVean Trading & Investments, LLC.  He was registered with the CFTC as an associated person of McVean Trading from October 1994 until June 2013. As the son of the firm’s founder, Charlie McVean, Dow gained unique exposure to all aspects of the commodity business with special emphasis on agricultural markets. Dow began his career with McVean Trading in 1990 as an associate in the agricultural research department, where he gained invaluable field experience studying the grain and livestock markets. He brings a wealth of firsthand knowledge and many industry contacts acquired by way of extensive travels throughout major livestock and agricultural production areas in the U.S., Europe, China, South America, and Mexico. Dow received degrees in economics and philosophy from Southern Methodist University and studied economics and the European Common Agricultural Policy at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany.
