This talk draws on the experience of two decades as a practicing economist.
The goal is to share with the audience the handful of ideas that the presenter has found to be most helpful in understanding economies and financial markets. Topics include the US and global business cycles, inflation, stock markets, investing and diversification, wealth creation and investor sentiment (including implications for international investors), the signal extraction problem, and the underlying economics of policy debates. Every attempt will be made to optimize the trade-off between shelf-life and the one hand, and timeliness of insights on the other
About Dr. James Kee, PhD.
Jim Kee, Ph.D. joined South Texas Money Management at the beginning of 2009 and serves as the Chief Economist. He was named President of the firm in April 2011. Dr. Kee’s expertise lies in combining top-down, macroeconomic insights with bottom-up stock selection tools. He works with both the investment research group and the investment advisors at STMM.
Dr. Kee has also produced research under contract for the Institute for Research on the Economics of Taxation (IRET) and Polyconomics. He served on the board of directors for the Catholic Citizens of Illinois and has advised several non-profit organizations. He has taught courses in finance and economics at Wabash College and Auburn University. Dr. Kee also serves on the school council for the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
