Topic Description:
Kit Johnson, City Architect for the City of Austin, will share a brief overview of current city-wide initiatives that are shaping our city’s future. To provide a better understanding of what these planning efforts mean, Kit will cast a vision of what Austin will look like on our 200th anniversary if we continue on the path set forth by our adopted comprehensive plan…a path to be a “beacon of sustainability, social equity and economic opportunity.”
About Kit Johnson
Kit Johnson, AIA is the City Architect for the City of Austin and heads up Public Works’ Office of the City Architect. He is a licensed architect and both a LEED and CNU accredited professional. A graduate of The University of Texas School of Architecture, his 24 years of practice includes experience at Lake/Flato, Overland Partners and BCV San Francisco. He is a founding partner of Hailey Johnson Architects and Architecture 365. He serves on the Board of the Austin AIA. His favorite two projects, currently in construction, are his boys Jude and Ezra and he shares this adventure with his wife, business partner & best friend Debra.
