Speaker – Marc Rowan
Mr. Rowan is a Senior Managing Director and Director of Apollo Global Management, LLC and Managing Partner of Apollo Management, L.P., which he co-founded in 1990. Prior to that time, Mr. Rowan was a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Drexel Burnham Lambert Incorporated, with responsibilities in high yield financing, transaction idea generation and merger structure negotiation. Mr. Rowan currently serves on the boards of directors of the general partner of AP Alternative Assets, L.P., Apollo Global Management, LLC, Caesars Entertainment Corporation and Norwegian Cruise Lines. He has previously served on the boards of directors of AMC Entertainment, Inc., Cablecom GmbH, Culligan Water Technologies, Inc., Countrywide Holdings Limited, Furniture Brands International, Mobile Satellite Ventures, LLC, National Cinemedia, Inc., National Financial Partners, Inc., New World Communications, Inc., Quality Distribution, Inc., Samsonite Corporation, SkyTerra Communications Inc., Unity Media SCA, Vail Resorts, Inc. and Wyndham International, Inc.
Mr. Rowan is also active in charitable activities. He is a founding member and serves on the executive committee of the Youth Renewal Fund and is a member of the boards of directors of the National Jewish Outreach Program, Riverdale Country School and the Undergraduate Executive Board of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Mr. Rowan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with a BS and an MBA in Finance.
Mr. Hood joined JPMorgan Asset Management’s Institutional Market Strategy Group as an Executive Director in October 2011. Within the group, he focuses on macroeconomic and emerging-market issues. He writes frequent “Global View” commentaries and contributes to the group’s stand-alone publications. He also maintains forecasts for global growth, inflation, and policy interest rates.
He came to JPMAM from Traxis Partners, a US macro hedge fund based in New York. There, he served as Chief Economist from 2007 to 2011. Previously, he worked as an economist and market strategist at Barclays Capital (within the emerging market research department) and the JPMorgan investment bank (within the economic research department). At JPMorgan, he began, in 1994, as an economist for several Latin American countries. Later, he oversaw JPMorgan’s Latin American economic research effort and helped coordinate the department’s global views. He began his career in the research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he worked from 1992 to 1994 on a range of international-finance and developing-country topics. In this capacity, he wrote many country-risk studies used by federal bank regulators. He graduated from Carleton College and Princeton University, and speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
Bruce Richards is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Managing Partner of Marathon, and is responsible for general oversight of the firm’s capital across its funds and managed accounts. Mr. Richards leads Marathon’s Executive Committee, which manages the firm’s operational initiatives and its strategic direction, and he is also a member of Marathon’s Investment Committee. Mr. Richards’ day-to-day presence is critical in maximizing the firm’s synergies and leveraging the intellectual capital throughout the firm. Prior to founding Marathon, Mr. Richards worked on Wall Street for 15 years, including 10 years as a Managing Director in the fixed income divisions of Smith Barney and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he was head of a trading desk responsible for principal investments and market making. Mr. Richards also worked at Shearson Lehman Hutton (“Lehman Brothers”) as a trader in their Fixed Income Division after starting his career with Paine Webber. Mr. Richards received his B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Tulane University in 1982 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa
Kathleen Hays is one of the top Economics reporters and anchors in the country, having covered the U.S. economy and the Federal Reserve for more than 20 years on television and radio, and in the print and electronic media.
Kathleen hosts The Hays Advantage on Bloomberg Radio, a program that covers the economic and political forces driving the U.S. and global economies and the global markets. She is known nationally for her coverage and analysis of the Federal Reserve and the impact Fed policy has on interest rates, equities, and currencies; in particular her insightful, in-depth interviews with top Fed officials.
Hays joined the Bloomberg multimedia team in 2006, serving on Bloomberg Television as economics editor and anchor of “On the Economy.” Kathleen came to Bloomberg TV from CNN where she served as Economics Correspondent for the network and appeared weekly on a weekend program, “On the Story.” She also anchored “The Flipside” and “CNN Money Morning” on CNNfn. Hays wrote a popular column called “Hayswire” and a Daily Eyeopener for CNNMoney.com.
She attended Stanford University where she earned her B.A. and M.A. in Economics. She is a past officer of the Money Marketeers of NYU.
